Living in a 100 year old Victorian Queen Anne as always meant to me
Red, Gold, Black, Tapestry's, Paisley, Woven Carpets,
I have managed to re-decorate some rooms in Shabby White's, which I also love,
Here is my Shabby Summer look for the living room,,
A new wool rug in pastels that I purchased from a fellow vendor at the
antique mall,Maple Street Mall, where I have my shop, The Victorian Tailor.
I used muslin, linen, antique lace for slip covers also for the
window treatment, book shelves, table cloths, wherever I wanted to have
I made the slip cover for the couch in the top picture,
Using linen, muslin, heavy duck cloth, whatever I had that I thought would be
a good mix and match of neutral colors and textures.
I have boxes and yards of fabric and trims,
The window curtain is muslin with lace behind,
In the middle of the curtain rod I pushed back the muslin and
draped an antique linen towel over the rod,
The top of the window is gathered toole with some roses I dried
some time ago, the white roses turned to a beige and the pink
just faded a little,
Antique Linen Towel, the lace is so pretty,
Antique lace draped on the archway,
I had just enough of the tapestry for the arms and front of the cushion,
I think I have had this piece in my tapestry box for about 20 years!
This heavy canvas bag makes a perfect pillow,
all I had to do was button it up!
This pillow is made with an old linen dish towel,
nice accent to the blue/aqua in the rug,
Memories, pictures, antique books,
I need to paint this bookshelf white, meanwhile I cover
with antique lace,
TV cabinet, I stenciled the screen on the top,
bought this piece already white, I just stenciled on the Fluer de Les,
Little wicker bookcase, antique hat box, shabby lamp,
I made the cover for the table,
My sister brought home the sweet lace gloves from Paris, when
she traveled to France with her French class from high school.
What a sweet memory now.
I glued antique lace and trims on this lampshade,
This is one of the original porch posts to my front porch,
I have 4 others in other rooms, I tied on cording and more antique lace,
I love my heavy wire lady, however she is not practical for displaying clothes,
so brought her home, she opens up and I have a candle inside
This hutch top actually goes in my shop for display,
I brought it home for a while, have antique lace in it and on top,
The lamp is crystal and silver, my father bought this at a garage sale.
Knowing him he probably only paid 50 cents to 1.00 for it, and it stayed in
his hunting cabin for 30 years, unpolished! When he passed away and we had to
sell the property I brought it home,
This is all silver inlay, so beautiful, sorry the silver shine does not show up very well,
Some of my favorite silver pieces, just thought the little pumpkin
is so cute,
The oval oak table is from our home when I was growing up,
my mother gave it to me when I moved to this house,
These pine chairs I found at garage sales, first I found 3 chairs for 1.00 each,
then about 10 years later found the green one to match, I once saw a 6 piece set of
these at a antique show all refinished for about 65.00 each!
I decided to just put doilies and lace on them for now instead of painting them.
I love the way everything turned out for this room, it is so relaxing on a hot
summer day! Next year I hope to have the chairs and bookcase painted.
One thing at a time, lots of patience,
Hope you all like it too!
