Being Green

Going Green!
Whether you are Irish or not it is still fun to
get out the Green!

Going Green has become a slogan
 now days, meaning saving the
environment, or being Irish, to name a few,
Hopefully I won't have to
wait too much longer to
see my sweet Trillium's,

It is fun to set the mood with
a quick table decoration,
and my grandmothers linen
 table cloth with matching napkins,
I made 4 little loaves of Irish Soda Bread,

  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tbs baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup currants, raisins or dried cranberries
  • 1/2-1 tbs caraway seeds (OPTIONAL)
  • 2 cups buttermilk

  • mix dry then moist, kneed into a ball,
  • wash with one beaten egg, bake, 350 for 35 minutes

  • This was Ida's (grandmother) teapot,
I just love it, hand painted little clovers,
I get it out every spring,
and actually use it for tea.
I remember it always being in
    her china cabinet,
however never saw her use it,
I like to use my old linens and dishes,

The white roses on this cloth are so  pretty,

Napkins and my green border Moose dishes,
(just covered up the moose, )

    I actually use mismatched silver
    utensils everyday, why not?
    otherwise they would just sit
     in a box somewhere,
and they tell a story every time I see them,
    especially the ones with names
engraved on them, this one say's
    so charming!

One of my pretty butter knives,
I also use this table cloth and
     napkins at Christmas time and
    sometimes on Game Day,
Go Green, Go White! (Michigan State),

No beads, or Shamrocks, except for the teapot, just the essence of green, oh, and
    the soda bread,

    Thank you for visiting,

    1. Hi Celeste,
Just love your wonderful St. Patrick's Day table!!
Your table cloth and napkins are gorgeous. Love the sweet teapot from your grandmother, The white roses against the green is so pretty.
Seeing the Irish Soda Bread is making me miss it. I found out over 7 months ago that I have a sensitivity to gluten. It looks delicious. I could try and make it with rice flour but I didn't this year.
So enjoyed your post and wishing you a Happy St. Patrick's Day.

    2. Love the table! it's a truly Irish feeling tablesetting.....done with love for a sendoff on a loved ones trip.
